Who is BECOME A PILOT suitable for?

BECOME A PILOT is designed for students aged approximately 14–19 who are interested in becoming commercial pilots or exploring aviation as a future career. It is particularly relevant to students studying GCSEs, A-Levels or equivalent international qualifications. No previous flying experience is required.

Does my child need any previous aviation knowledge?

No. The programme is designed to build knowledge progressively and is suitable for students starting with little aviation experience as well as those who already fly, attend Air Cadets or are working towards a PPL.

My child is already doing a PPL. Will the programme still be useful?

Yes. BECOME A PILOT is not a replacement for PPL training. It provides a broader focus on professional aviation, airline recruitment, pilot competencies, academic development, aptitude preparation, communication, decision making and future career pathways.

What happens if my child misses a session?

Don’t worry. Sessions are recorded and available to enrolled students on demand for six months after the programme finishes. Each session is designed to work independently, so a missed session can be watched later without preventing a student from participating in subsequent sessions.

Are sessions recorded?

Yes. Programme sessions are recorded for enrolled students so they can revisit topics, consolidate their learning or catch up on sessions they have missed.

How long can students access the recordings?

Students will retain access to programme recordings for six months following completion of the course, providing plenty of opportunity for revision and consolidation.

Is the programme live?

Yes. BECOME A PILOT is primarily a live online programme. Students have the opportunity to learn alongside other aspiring pilots, engage with the content and benefit from structured mentoring rather than simply purchasing a library of pre-recorded videos.

Where is the programme delivered?

The programme is delivered entirely online. Sessions operate on UK time, but students can participate from anywhere in the world.

How does the programme support GCSE and A-Level studies?

Aviation provides practical applications for many topics students encounter within Maths and Physics. Throughout BECOME A PILOT, students explore areas including forces, pressure, the atmosphere, trigonometry, speed-distance-time, navigation, aircraft performance and human performance. This helps students connect classroom theory with real-world applications.

Is this GCSE or A-Level tuition?

The programme includes mentored academic tuition and reinforces relevant GCSE and A-Level concepts, but it is not designed as a replacement for a student’s school curriculum or subject-specific examination tuition. Its purpose is to apply academic learning to aviation while developing wider professional and career skills.

Will this help my child get better GCSE or A-Level results?

The programme is designed to reinforce relevant Maths and Physics concepts and increase engagement by showing students how their studies apply to aviation. However, no particular examination result or grade improvement can be guaranteed.

Will completing the programme guarantee an airline place?

No. No legitimate programme can guarantee selection by an airline or flight training organisation. BECOME A PILOT is designed to help students become better informed and better prepared for future opportunities.

Does the programme prepare students for fully funded pilot schemes?

Yes. Students learn about airline-sponsored and fully funded training pathways, how recruitment processes typically operate and the types of skills and competencies that may be assessed. The aim is to help students understand these opportunities well before they become eligible to apply.

Will you help with aptitude tests?

Students are introduced to aptitude testing, the skills these assessments measure and approaches to preparation. The programme is designed to develop underlying abilities rather than simply teaching students to memorise answers.

Does the programme include interview preparation?

Yes. Students explore both online and face-to-face interviews, competency-based questions, professional communication and how to present themselves effectively during future selection processes.

What professional skills will my child develop?

Topics include communication, teamwork, decision making, workload management, leadership, professionalism, cockpit gradients and the pilot competencies commonly associated with modern commercial aviation.

Who teaches the programme?

BECOME A PILOT is led by Samuel Piri, a Commercial Pilot Licence holder, qualified teacher and experienced educator with more than 15 years’ experience delivering specialist education and professional training.

Is the instructor DBS checked?

Yes. The programme is delivered by a DBS-checked educator with extensive experience working with young people in educational environments.

Can parents watch too?

The programme fee provides access for one registered student. Parents are welcome to support their child’s learning, but access, recordings and programme materials cannot be shared with additional students or households.

Can two siblings participate using one registration?

No. Each programme registration is for one student. A separate place is required for each participating child.

What equipment does my child need?

Students need a reliable internet connection and a computer or tablet capable of accessing the online learning platform. A notebook and calculator will also be useful for some sessions.

Does my child need a flight simulator?

No. A home flight simulator is not required to participate.

Does my child need to have had a flying lesson?

No. Previous flying experience is not necessary.

Does my child need to be an Air Cadet?

No. Air Cadets may find the programme particularly relevant, but membership of any aviation organisation is not required.

What if my child later decides they don’t want to become a pilot?

The skills developed throughout the programme—including communication, decision making, teamwork, problem solving and professional awareness—are transferable to many careers within aviation, engineering, STEM and other professional environments.

What age can someone begin pilot training?

There are different age requirements for different licences and stages of training. BECOME A PILOT is deliberately aimed at students before professional training so they can use these years productively to understand the industry and prepare.

Should my child get a PPL first?

Not necessarily. There are several routes into professional pilot training and a PPL is not universally required before beginning commercial training. The programme helps students and parents understand the different pathways so they can make informed decisions.

Do students need to study Physics at A-Level?

Not every professional pilot pathway requires A-Level Physics. However, a good understanding of Maths and Science is extremely useful throughout aviation training. Students should always check the specific entry requirements of any airline or training programme they intend to apply to.

What about eyesight or medical requirements?

Professional pilots must meet the relevant aviation medical standards. Anyone seriously considering professional pilot training should understand the importance of obtaining the appropriate medical certification before committing substantial sums to flight training. Individual medical eligibility should always be discussed with an appropriately qualified Aviation Medical Examiner.

Is BECOME A PILOT a recognised pilot qualification?

No. BECOME A PILOT is an educational, mentoring and career-preparation programme. It does not replace CAA-approved flight training and does not award a pilot licence or aviation rating.

Will students receive a certificate?

Students who complete the programme can receive a certificate recognising their participation in BECOME A PILOT. This is a programme completion certificate rather than a professional aviation licence or regulatory qualification.

How much does the programme cost?

The complete BECOME A PILOT programme costs £980 per student, providing access to the live programme, mentoring, programme resources and subsequent access to session recordings.

BECOME A PILOT is a structured, specialist programme rather than a single careers talk or pre-recorded online course. It combines live aviation education, academic reinforcement, mentoring and professional pilot career preparation across the programme.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes you can. A £200 deposit is required at the point of booking, this is done over the phone followed by a payment link. You then need the clear the full balance before 1st September 2026 by calling up and making payments as and when you like.

Can I cancel and receive a refund?

Programme places are subject to the booking terms and conditions accepted at registration. Please review these carefully before purchasing via the website site.

What if a scheduled session has to change?

Occasionally, operational or unforeseen circumstances may require a session date, time, sequence or content to be amended. Any changes will be communicated to enrolled students and parents, and recordings help ensure students retain access to programme content.

When does the programme start?

The next BECOME A PILOT cohort begins on Tuesday 8 September 2026 at 6pm UK time.

Why is the programme limited to 50 students?

BECOME A PILOT is intended to provide a mentored learning experience rather than an unlimited webinar. Limiting cohort size helps preserve interaction, engagement and the opportunity for students to participate.

How do we secure a place?

Parents can register their child directly through The Aviation Guy website. Places are allocated subject to availability.
