TERMS & CONDITIONS

Become a Pilot Academy – Terms and Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to bookings for the Become a Pilot Academy, provided by Samuel Piri t/a The Aviation Guy ("we", "us" or "our").

By enrolling a student onto the Academy and making the first payment, the purchaser confirms that they have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Where the student is under 18, the booking must be made by, or with the authority of, their parent or legal guardian.

1. The Programme

The Become a Pilot Academy is an educational and pilot-preparation programme delivered primarily through live online teaching.

The programme includes teaching and learning relating to aviation knowledge, Maths and Physics, professional pilot training pathways, aptitude, selection, communication, Crew Resource Management and other relevant areas.

The precise content, order and teaching activities may be reasonably adjusted where necessary to improve delivery, respond to the needs of the cohort or reflect changes within aviation.

2. Educational Status

The Academy is a preparatory educational programme.

It is not an approved professional flight-training course, pilot licence, ATPL qualification, type rating or airline recruitment programme.

Completion of the Academy does not confer a pilot licence or other regulated aviation qualification.

3. Course Fee

The total price of the Become a Pilot Academy is:

£1,000 per student.

The programme fee is collected as four payments of £250.

The four £250 payments are instalments towards the single £1,000 programme fee.

They are not four separate monthly purchases, a monthly membership, a subscription or a pay-as-you-attend arrangement.

4. Commitment to Pay the Programme Fee

By enrolling and making the first £250 payment, the purchaser is purchasing a place on the complete Become a Pilot Academy and, subject to applicable statutory consumer rights, accepts responsibility for payment of the full £1,000 programme fee.

A student's place is allocated for the programme and may prevent that place from being offered to another applicant.

Choosing to pay through scheduled instalments does not reduce the total contractual programme fee.

5. Scheduled Payments

The first £250 payment is payable when the booking is made.

The remaining three payments of £250 will be collected in accordance with the payment schedule communicated at the time of booking.

The purchaser is responsible for ensuring that valid payment details are maintained and sufficient funds are available when payments fall due.

6. Withdrawal from the Academy

Subject to applicable statutory cancellation rights, once the relevant cancellation period has expired, a student or purchaser choosing to withdraw from the Academy does not cancel the obligation to pay the remaining programme fee.

This includes where a student:

  • changes their mind;

  • loses interest;

  • stops attending;

  • decides aviation is no longer for them;

  • develops conflicting school, college, employment, sporting or extracurricular commitments;

  • is unable to attend individual sessions;

  • goes on holiday; or

  • otherwise chooses not to complete the programme.

The outstanding balance of the £1,000 programme fee will remain payable.

7. Cancelling the Payment Instruction

Cancelling a recurring payment authority, cancelling or replacing a payment card, instructing a bank to prevent payment or otherwise preventing collection does not itself cancel the contract or extinguish any outstanding amount lawfully due under it.

Where a payment fails, we may contact the purchaser to arrange payment.

We reserve the right to suspend the student's access to live sessions, recordings, learning materials and other Academy services while payments are overdue.

Suspension of access does not itself cancel any outstanding contractual payment obligation.

8. Consumer Cancellation Rights

Nothing within these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude or restrict any statutory rights available to consumers under UK law.

Where applicable, consumers purchasing the Academy online may have a statutory cancellation period.

Where the purchaser expressly asks us to begin supplying the Academy during an applicable statutory cancellation period, they request that performance of the contract begins before that period has expired.

Any cancellation made during a statutory cancellation period, including any amount that may lawfully be charged for services already supplied, will be dealt with in accordance with applicable consumer law.

9. Attendance

Students are responsible for attending scheduled live sessions.

Sessions will normally begin at the advertised time and we are not required to delay teaching for students who arrive late.

Failure to attend a live session does not entitle the purchaser to a refund, credit or reduction in the programme fee.

Where a recording is available, students may use it to catch up on missed teaching.

10. Recordings

Academy sessions may be recorded for educational purposes.

Recordings may be made available to enrolled students through our website or another secure platform.

Course recordings are currently intended to remain available for six months following completion of the Academy, subject to reasonable technical and operational availability.

By participating in the Academy, students and their parent/guardian acknowledge that live sessions may be recorded.

Students must not independently record, photograph, screenshot, reproduce or distribute Academy sessions without our written permission.

11. Student Conduct

Students are expected to behave appropriately and professionally during live sessions.

This includes:

  • joining using their first name;

  • respecting other students and staff;

  • not sharing personal contact information;

  • not requesting personal contact information from other students;

  • keeping microphones muted when appropriate;

  • using chat facilities appropriately;

  • participating constructively;

  • following reasonable instructions given by the tutor; and

  • not disrupting teaching.

Students must not use Academy sessions to exchange telephone numbers, personal email addresses, social-media accounts or other private contact details.

12. Safeguarding

The Academy includes students under the age of 18 and appropriate safeguarding expectations therefore apply.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for ensuring that their child participates from an appropriate environment and has suitable access to the technology required for online learning.

Any safeguarding concern arising during the Academy may be addressed in accordance with our safeguarding procedures and, where appropriate, raised with the student's parent/guardian or relevant authority.

13. Cameras and Participation

Students are ordinarily expected to participate with their camera switched on during live teaching unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed.

This assists with attendance, participation, engagement and the appropriate management of the online learning environment.

Students should be appropriately dressed. Casual clothing is acceptable.

14. Course Materials and Copyright

All presentations, videos, worksheets, question banks, recordings, diagrams, teaching resources and other Academy materials remain the intellectual property of their respective owner.

Materials supplied by The Aviation Guy are provided for the personal educational use of the enrolled student only.

Unless expressly permitted, course materials must not be:

  • shared with another person;

  • copied or reproduced;

  • uploaded online;

  • published on social media;

  • sold;

  • used for commercial purposes;

  • distributed to schools, organisations or other students; or

  • used to deliver another course or educational programme.

Access is provided to the enrolled student only.

15. Technology

As the Academy is delivered online, students are responsible for having suitable internet access and compatible equipment.

Students should ordinarily have access to:

  • a computer or suitable device capable of accessing Google Meet;

  • a working camera and microphone; and

  • the ability to view digitally or print worksheets and other course materials where required.

We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access where a problem arises from the student's internet connection, equipment, software, account or other technology outside our reasonable control.

16. Course Changes

We may make reasonable changes to session content, teaching order, tutors, resources, dates or delivery arrangements where necessary.

Where a live session cannot reasonably be delivered as scheduled, we may reschedule the session or provide an appropriate alternative.

Reasonable changes to the programme do not automatically entitle the purchaser to cancel the contract or receive a refund.

Nothing in this clause affects the purchaser's statutory rights where a change is material or the contracted service is not supplied with reasonable care and skill.

17. Cancellation by The Aviation Guy

If we cancel the complete Academy and cannot provide a reasonable alternative, purchasers will receive any refund or other remedy to which they are entitled under applicable consumer law.

Cancellation or rescheduling of an individual session does not automatically constitute cancellation of the complete programme.

18. Optional Simulator Experience

Any Simulator Completion Session offered alongside the Academy is an optional additional experience and is not required to complete the Academy.

Unless expressly stated otherwise at booking, simulator experiences are not included within the £1,000 Academy fee and are subject to their own availability, booking arrangements and applicable terms.

Choosing not to participate in the simulator experience does not affect the Academy programme fee.

19. Certificate

Students who satisfactorily complete the Academy may receive a certificate of completion.

The certificate confirms participation/completion of the Become a Pilot Academy.

It is not a pilot licence, regulated qualification, ATPL credit, flight-training qualification or guarantee of acceptance by an airline or Approved Training Organisation.

20. Airline and Flight-Training Applications

The Academy is intended to help students understand and prepare for future aviation training and selection.

We do not guarantee:

  • admission to a flight school;

  • acceptance onto an airline cadet programme;

  • airline-funded training;

  • successful completion of aptitude testing;

  • successful completion of ATPL examinations;

  • employment as a pilot; or

  • any particular career outcome.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, The Aviation Guy is independent of airlines and flight-training organisations and enrolment does not provide preferential access to their recruitment or selection processes.

21. Medical and Licensing Requirements

Students considering professional pilot training are responsible for investigating the medical, regulatory, licensing, immigration, age and other requirements applicable to their intended career pathway.

Participation in the Academy does not establish or guarantee that a student is medically or otherwise eligible to obtain a professional pilot licence.

22. Personal Information

Personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection legislation.

Information relating to students under 18 will be treated with particular care.

Students should not disclose unnecessary personal information during live group sessions.

23. Removal for Serious Misconduct

We reserve the right to take proportionate action where a student's behaviour presents a safeguarding concern, seriously disrupts teaching, threatens or harasses another participant, deliberately misuses course materials or repeatedly breaches reasonable Academy rules.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include warnings, contacting a parent/guardian, temporary suspension or removal from the programme.

Any financial consequences of removal will be considered in accordance with these Terms and applicable consumer law.

24. Complaints

If a purchaser or student is unhappy with any aspect of the Academy, they should contact us in writing at:

fly@theaviationguy.co.uk

We will aim to consider and respond to complaints fairly and within a reasonable period.

25. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of the United Kingdom, subject to any mandatory consumer protections applying according to the purchaser's place of residence.

26. Acceptance of Terms

By completing enrolment and making the first £250 payment, the purchaser confirms that they understand that:
