Simulator Completion Session

 

Complete the Journey. Experience the Flight Deck.

Knowledge is one thing. Applying it is another. The Simulator Completion Session is the optional practical finale to the Become a Pilot Academy, giving students the opportunity to step into the flight deck of a modern commercial airliner and experience the procedures, communication and decision-making that professional airline pilots use every day.

​

Working alongside a line flying type-rated airline pilot, you'll complete a realistic airline flight from start to finish, bringing together many of the concepts explored throughout the Academy in a genuine airline operating environment through a specially created flight planning project based on the content of the course.

​

This isn't simply an hour in a simulator.

​

It's your opportunity to experience what it is really like to operate a commercial aircraft as part of a professional flight crew professionally adapted for students aged 14-19.

Choose Your Aircraft

Students can choose between two of the world's most popular commercial airliners:

​

Airbus A320

Fly using Airbus' distinctive side-stick controller and experience the highly automated cockpit philosophy used by airlines across Europe and around the world.

​

Boeing 737

Take control using the traditional control yoke, experiencing one of the most iconic flight decks in commercial aviation.

 

Neither aircraft is better than the other, your choice simply comes down to personal preference and which flight deck you'd most like to experience.

Your Simulator Profile

During your session you'll complete a realistic airline sector including:

• Professional pre-flight briefing

• Aircraft preparation

• Flight deck checklists

• Engine start

• Take-off

• Climb

• Cruise

• Descent

• Instrument approach

• Landing

• A non-normal event requiring decision-making and effective Crew Resource Management (CRM)

• ​

Throughout the session your instructor will explain not only what airline pilots do, but why they do it, helping you understand the standards, procedures and mindset expected on today's flight deck.

Personalised Feedback

Following your simulator session you'll receive:

• A personalised debrief discussing your performance

• Individual feedback on your briefing, communication and decision-making

• A written summary highlighting strengths and areas for future development

• A Crew Resource Management (CRM) Certificate recognising your participation

Whether you're considering a future airline career or simply want to experience the flight deck at its most realistic, you'll leave with valuable insight into the professional standards expected of commercial pilots.

​

Family Welcome

The simulator has space for up to two additional observers, allowing parents, family members or friends to watch from inside the flight deck throughout the session.

West Midlands

Students travelling from elsewhere in the UK can request assistance with hotel accommodation and local transport (additional charges apply). Where appropriate, suitable chaperone arrangements can also be made for students travelling independently within the UK.

Who is this for?

The Simulator Completion Session is only available to students enrolled on the Become a Pilot Academy.

​

Please note that the Simulator Completion Session is an optional enhancement to the Academy and is not included within the standard £980 course fee.
