Who is it for?

The BECOME A PILOT event is designed specifically for A Level cohorts studying towards University and considering to applying to a Flight Training School in the UK with a view to obtaining a commercial pilots licence and thus a career as an airline pilot. The content is based on the maths and physics related to the main A Level specifications and would serve as a contextualised session helping embed key principles relative to your students studies.


As part of the session I will map out the core pilot competencies and the required skills needed to build a winning application.

How long does it take?

There is 4 hours of content delivered around your normal breaks and lunch time. Events typically begin at 0900 and end at 1400.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Flight mechanics

  • The lift equation, rearranging the lift formula

  • Generating lift, the venturi

  • Vectors

  • Chemistry of aviation fuel

  • The gas turbine and combustion

  • Pressurisation

  • Mass & balance

  • Fuel planning

  • Calculating wind speeds using trigonometry

  • Mathematics and formulas for navigation

EVENT SPECIFIC INFORMATION

For up to 60 student participants

For this event to take place at your school, college, sixth form or university we require the following:

Site access from 0830 to unload and set up

A classroom to seat your students

A projector or large screen capable of receiving a HDMI input

A supervising staff member at all times

Your event with me includes:

  • DBS checked qualified commercial pilot Sam Piri QTS

  • Printed colour learning aids

  • Printed colour certificate of participation 

 

You will need to:

  • Choose up to 60 students to participate in the full day

  • Ensure that all 60 students are given the pre-event briefing (available from the portal)

  • Provide scientific calculators for each student if they don't have their own

  • Ensure that there is a screen with a HDMI input

Cost & funding 

  • Event cost £850.00 in England & Wales
